The Gifting Moment

Image
Now now, I really didn't want to write about Valentine's day as there seem to be 'semantics' problem. But then, I thought, when you're in Rome, you behave like Romans. Happy Val's day in advance. Where's it going to be? In your room sharing wonderful old times memories or out eating late in a beach front restaurant with a corner reserved for just you 2? Try http://marmundo.com or www.piccolomondorestaurant.com . It could even be @ the cinema - want to see a few romantic movies at the Galleria? Hmm. Sounds romantic.... Wherever it is, place safe. Just talk, and laugh, and laugh some more. You'll treasure the moment for the rest of your lives. What's it going to be? Cakes? Cream? French rice? Italian sauce? Hmm, yummy. Please, please eat healthy - then you won't have to spend thousands of money after Valentine's day is over. How did you know I need this? Ha! Got you. It's, hmm, the latest wedge worn in town. No no...

V irus security experts have issued advisories to users after a number of malicious spam messages were found to be using Valentine's Day themes as a lure. Experts said they had received reports of spam messages which contained links to malicious websites. The sites attempted to download an executable onto the user's system under the names 'youandme.exe' or 'onlyyou.exe' . They are advising users to avoid dangerous spam with basic security practices such as avoiding unsolicited links and keeping all system and security software updated. Meanwhile, researchers at Symantec ( www.symantec.com ) have already compiled a list of the most popular Valentine's Day spam headlines. What’s Love Got to do with it?

>> Obama’s Historic Inaugural Moments President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle capped their historic day with a speedy tour through 10 inaugural balls before retiring, at last, for their first night in the White House. The Etta James classic "At Last" was the Obamas' song of the evening, crooned by Beyonce at the Neighbourhood Ball, the first of 10 inaugural celebrations they attended into the early hours of Wednesday. The president wore white tie, while Michelle shimmered in a white, one-shouldered, floor-length gown. It was embellished from top to bottom with white floral details and made by 26-year-old New York designer Jason Wu. "First of all, how good looking is my wife?" Obama asked the crowd of celebrities and supporters. The president pulled his wife close for a slow, dignified two-step to the song that marked the end of a long day of formal inaugural events and the two-year campaign that put them in the...

A Whale of a Marriage

Happy New Year! It’ll be our year of unspeakable joy by His grace. I’ve not written in a long time. Been very very busy, especially during the festive season; but now I’m “semi” back now (if there ever is any word like that – LOL). Today, I’m delving into a topic I seldom discuss. I was just thinking about Nigerian politicians and their usual corrupt practices (apologies to those who have them as relatives). Last night, as I was watching one of our local channels (news hour) and in the news, again is a report of a past Minister summoned to panel to answer a query of mismanaged funds during his administration but who refused to honour the invitation (probably ‘cause of shame or a feeling of being above the law – don’t know). That news, though not new, made me ask my mum to tell me if there was any past leader in Nigeria that was not involved in corrupt practices or if there was anyone of them that was not summoned to one panel or the other, or even given public disgrac...

It Sacred, Yet Abused 2

I really appreciate the great response I got when I wrote the part 1 of this topic. It shows that a lot of people actually share my conviction. Thanks y’all. I know I’m not alone on this, there are people that will stand up and fight for what is right. There are people like me, who’d preach the truth any time any day. Here’s the story I promised to tell us in part 1... Banke (not real name) was a year 3 student at the university, studying Geography, when she found herself in a dilemma. She looked at her life and thought she was already done for. It’s already the end for her. What kind of miracle can undo this horrible predicament? Wew! Banke, a lady of distinct, with high morals, is now brought low. She felt shame and disgust at herself and thought ending her life would be the best. A virgin she was when she entered the University. Her plans were to keep her virginity till the day she’ll say ‘I do’. A lot of people – friends, family – called her old-fashioned, but she...

Obama and LOVE

Hiiii...Long time. It's been a while. I've not blogged for over 3 weeks now - it's because I've been busy, y'know. Very busy. I have loads of stuff to write about but I pray I have time to write them. Let me use this opportunity to thank you all for your responses on my last post - It's Sacred, Yet Abused' - Thank you, thank you, thanks a million. I'll bring the part 2 soon... A lot of bloggers have written what Obama's win means to them - even 'skypers' have sent theirs. I don't disagree with anyone, but I know what it means to me. Hmm! But what does it mean to me? Before I say what it means to me, let me congratulate the black race for this outstanding and life-time victory. It'll forever remain in our memory - we are black and we're strong; able to take the most powerful seat in the world... Here's what Obama's win means to me... I was sitting in my hotel room at Atlantis Palm Jumeirah, in Dubai at about 5am Dubai...

It's Sacred...Yet abused 1.

I get to do this almost everyday. I really enjoy doing it because it makes me know more about the people I'm doing it with and more about life. What's it? You'd ask. It's chatting...I actually love using Skype ( www.skype.com ) because there I have a lot of new friends - people I've never met before and share opinions with them, other than Yahoo! messenger where 3/4 of my childhood friends are. So, everyday, I log on to Skype to see what's new to talk about. At times, I put up a 'Do not disturb' sign. But people like Phemnahs ; Arinola (when she was still in Nigeria); Femi Ajayi; Ife Anishe; etc wouldn't ever honour the sign. No wahala o. I'm not angry. (LOL). Okk. What's this about Skype? I logged on one beautiful day and the first person that chatted with me was 'B' (name withheld, but his name starts with 'B'). 'B' is a he and I'm very fond of him, though we've not met. He's just natural - really l...
